IT Services (ITS) is undergoing a significant transformation programme to align the technology and capabilities within ITS to the University’s needs now and in future. The ITS leadership team is progressive, determined and committed to delivering exceptional performance from the University’s information technology systems and the people who design, develop and support them. By 2020 we expect to operate at the highest levels of capability maturity (CMMI level 5). In order to achieve this aim, we are building a leading IT Operations function to deliver sustainable, efficient and cost effective change aligned to the University’s strategic priorities, agreed architectural principles, and based on best practice standards and frameworks.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer (Systems) to join the IT Operations team and provide ITIL based best practice support for the University’s systems. 

The successful applicant will ideally have experience of a number of the Microsoft/Windows and related technologies, such as: Windows Server, AD, Office 365, SCCM, ADFS, VMware, Hyper-V, Exchange, IIS, SQL Server, Scripting, Direct Access, PKI, Microsoft Skype for Business/Lync and remote application delivery (e.g. Remote App/Citrix).

This is an opportunity to contribute to developments that will make a real difference to the successful delivery of the University’s Strategic Programmes including the Learning 2020, Performance 2020 and the Student Journey programmes.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree qualification or can demonstrate equivalent experience, a higher degree or a technical/managerial accreditation.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Desirable

  • A qualification in a technical field.
