Term Time Post – 40 Weeks Per Year
As a part of Disability and Inclusion Student Futures Support, the Academic Skills Tutor will be part of a team responsible for delivering 1-1 specialist academic study skills for students with a range of specific learning differences and students with Asperger’s Syndrome/Autism. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for producing reports and resources to support the development of the Disability and Inclusion Service.
You will hold a good honours degree, have Accredited Teacher Status with the British Dyslexia Association, a teaching qualification e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, or PG Cert HE, preferably a specialist post-graduate qualification in the area of SpLD, and have experience of teaching students with a specific learning difference within a Higher/Further Education environment. You must also have excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills, and be able to demonstrate excellent team-working skills. In addition, you must be able to interpret professional reports, e.g. Educational Psychologists/Specialist Teachers’ reports.
You will be based at our Chester campus but expected to work flexibly across all University campuses and nursing sites, therefore a full clean driving licence is also essential.
