Detail information about job Research Associate/Fellow (fixed-term). Terms and conditions vacancy

Applications are invited for the above position to join the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Group at the University of Nottingham. The PEMC group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 130 members, with 18 Academics (including 7 full professors), and approximately 100 PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows.

The successful candidate will undertake research on the design, analysis, and development of classical, field-wound, synchronous generators for energy and mobile applications. The main focus will be on the development of high efficiency, high power density, and highly reliable synchronous generators. Significant experimental work related to machine manufacturing, testing, and validation will be done.

Candidates must have a PhD (or be near completion) or equivalent in electrical machines. As the role suggests, candidates will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of classical, synchronous, wound field, salient pole generators. It is also expected that the candidates will demonstrate high level communication and organisational skills and an aptitude for dissemination of results in international conferences and journals.

This full-time post will be offered on a fixed term for a period of 24 months.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Michael Galea (email: [email protected]). Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

The University of Nottingham is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
