This role is for a project manager in Prostate Cancer Innovation to work in the Academic Urology Group. The group was established in Cambridge in 2014. The primary research focus is uro-oncology and in particular prostate cancer. The group has an outstanding record of publications both in basic science and translational research. A strong theme is the close integration of research into clinical practice with the aim of improving early cancer detection, prognostic stratification and primary therapy outcomes from patients treated for urological cancers. The overarching ethos is to develop and progress research that is based on close collaborative multi-disciplinary working with colleagues in radiology, pathology, basic sciences, oncology and epidemiology.

The project will involve the development of an innovative and safer method of undertaking prostate biopsies for men with suspected prostate cancer with management of all aspects of the CAMPROBE project as well as assisting Mr Vincent Gnanapragasam in integrating related research in prostate cancer.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in biomedical or related sciences. Previous experience or involvement in clinical trials set up and/or patient facing translational research studies is essential along with a good working knowledge of a solid cancer (prostate cancer desirable) from a clinical and biological perspective. The candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of project management, leading a team, (desirable), development of SOPs and monitoring procedures in a regulated environment. Excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills required.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 June 2020 in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment. This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.
