Job Purpose
Strategic direction and leadership of the Library’s Conservation and Preservation team, providing management and development of a long-term conservation and preservation programme for the University’s Archives and Special Collections (ASC) to ensure the achievement of the Library’s strategic objective of maximising accessibility to and use of collections to enable first class learning and research.
To assess and organise specialist conservation work to preserve a wide range of the University’s heritage materials, including commissioning external conservation services, seeking funding from external bodies for specific projects and overseeing interns and volunteers as appropriate.
To promote the collections’ teaching and research value and encourage their scholarly use, within the University and in the wider academic community, including undertaking own research and publication into the collections where appropriate, contributing to the outreach, learning and exhibition programme of the University.
To build and maintain partnerships with internal and external bodies and individuals, on a national and international level, in promotion of the Library and University’s objectives.
Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the Management, Professional and Administrative Grade, level 7, £34,520 - £38,833 per annum.
This is an open ended and full time position.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
