Job Summary

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is a vibrant academic community and the main provider of nursing education in the North East of Scotland. The School is housed in a state of the art building designed to simulate both clinical and community settings providing a stimulating learning environment.

A highly motivated individual with knowledge of contemporary CYP Nursing practice and policies, you will carry out teaching as designated and contribute to the wider School portfolio which includes post-registration education, scholarly activity and research. This exciting post carries a high degree of responsibility to promote excellence in learning, teaching and research within the school and in collaboration with other health care professionals.

You should be working towards or willing to work towards Masters level in a relevant discipline and also possess a BN Bachelor or Nursing Degree Children and Young Peoples Nursing. You will also have a strong understanding of pre-registration standards/education.

Our vision is to provide dynamic and transformational learning, teaching and research that makes a leading contribution to improving the health and well-being of local, national and global communities. We aim to engage with key partners to develop, deliver and disseminate high quality research that is of value to society, those using health and social care services, and the professions of nursing and midwifery. Our current research objectives are:

• To build on existing research strengths by focusing work programmatically around three key thematic areas: Community Health and Wellbeing; Policy, Education and Practice; and Patient Experience/Patient Safety 
• To build research capability and capacity by proactively nurturing staff and student research development, and by considered appointments of new staff 
• To proactively collaborate with external partners (e.g. clinical practice; government agencies) and internal partners (RGU Schools) to ensure research quality and relevance 
• To increase research income year on year in line with the targets in the School plan - To increase the quality and quantity of published research outputs in line with REF 2020 targets in order to ensure a substantive nursing and midwifery contribution 
• Within the context of our overarching scholarship model, to develop mechanisms to ensure our research informs our teaching and practice, and in turn our learning activities inform our research

A PVG check will be required for the successful applicant. Salary on appointment will be dependent upon experience. Candidates with limited/no lecturing experience will be placed on the first point of the scale, although consideration will be given to a market supplement (reviewed bi-annually) for those with specific industry experience.
