The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Assistant to work on an exciting new project led by Dr Yuemei Ji, in collaboration with Professor Paul De Grauwe and Professor Nauro Campos.

The project "Structural Reforms and European Integration: Theory, Measurement and Econometric Evidence" aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of structural reforms in the European Union. Our team will investigate a wide and relevant set of structural reforms that have been designed and implemented in the member states of the European Union as well as their determinants and impact. The proposed research will generate novel and robust policy implications.

The successful candidate will assist the research team by data collecting and archiving; carrying out initial analysis of data on specific research questions; preparing draft reports; summarising findings and literature surveys. The duties of the post will also include assisting our team in the academic and practical organisation of conferences and workshops.

This project is supported by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and is funded for 18 months in the first instance starting no later than the 1st August 2017.

In order to carry out the duties effectively, the person appointed will have a Masters in Economics (or be close to completion of the same) or other quantitative social science discipline.

In exceptional cases, we will also consider applicants with a first or upper second class Undergraduate degree in Economics or other quantitative social sciences discipline. You should have an aptitude and commitment to high quality research and have advanced experience of applied econometrics research and of using Stata and other quantitative analysis tools for analysing large scale country level data. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in European macroeconomy.
