The Joint Honours Scheme is located within the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. The Joint Honours Lead (Academic) will work collaboratively across the institution to provide academic guidance for the Joint Honours Scheme. The role holder will lead the academic development of the Scheme in accordance with the University’s Corporate Plan and ensure that it is delivered effectively and efficiently in line with University regulations and policies, and with respect for the values and culture of the university learning community.

Working collaboratively across the University with all stakeholders, they will build collegial and effective working relationships with the College Leaders, the Head of Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and Joint Honours professional support colleagues. They will engage with inter-institutional networking to raise the external profile of the Joint Honours Scheme at Derby. The role holder will work with academic staff to identify and encourage best practice in learning, teaching and assessment, supporting the implementation of University strategy.

As an academic member of staff the role holder will ensure efficient and effective delivery of Joint Honours teaching programmes in accordance with the University’s strategic objectives in order to provide an exceptional student experience. They will ensure that curriculum development, quality management and enhancement comply with required standards.

The role holder will be expected to undertake research activity to promote and enhance the work of the University to build on a growing research reputation.
