We wish to appoint a Researcher for the EU Horizon 2020-funded RealValue project. RealValue aims to demonstrate how local small-scale energy storage, combined with advanced ICT (Smart Electric Thermal Storage, or SETS), could bring benefits to market participants by replacing existing electric storage heating and direct resistance heaters.

The post will entail working with researchers in the Lower Carbon Futures programme on organising and analysing data relating to customers’ experience with SETS and the contributions of other actors in setting up smart thermal storage; contributing to the behavioural assessment report to the European Commission, the ‘consumer impact’ report for general circulation, and the report on commercial viability; and liaising with project partners. There may also be some interviews with customers and project personnel, in relation to their experience of taking part in the project.

The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of energy infrastructure and residential energy demand issues. You will hold a relevant a PhD/DPhil (or have recently submitted) together with relevant experience, along with a meticulous approach to research and excellent communication skills, including the ability to interview sensitively and thoroughly, write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the University at meetings.

This is a fixed-term post until 31 May 2018.
