Detail information about job Post Doctoral Research Assistant: Synthetic Biology Approaches to Building Novel Cell Lines for Drug Discovery and Toxicity Testing. Terms and conditions vacancy
College of Science and Engineering
We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Post Doctoral Research Assistant to conduct key laboratory research using synthetic biology and genome engineering to develop a suite of genetic circuits giving readouts relevant to drug efficacy and toxicity screening.
This project represents an opportunity to harness the novel techniques of synthetic biology and genome editing to establish novel cell lines as biosensors for the efficacy and importantly toxic effects of many new drugs with the aim of speeding up the innovation and approval pipeline and decreasing the need for animal testing. It also offers the potential for future delivery of synthetic biosensing circuits into a patients’ own individual in vitro grown cell lines towards realising the potential of personalised medicine. There will be multiple opportunities to interact with leading academics and industrial partners.
Applicants should have or shortly obtain a PhD in an appropriate discipline with research experience in at least one of the following: drug or toxicity screening, synthetic biology, mammalian cell biology, molecular biology, molecular genetics or a related area. Research experience involving one or more of the following: drug or toxicity screening, mammalian cell engineering, synthetic biology, CRISPR Cas9 genome editing or a related area.
This post is fixed term for 3 years.
