Job PurposeThe post-holder will contribute to an MRC-funded project, working with Professor Brian Morris (PI), aimed at investigating the neurobiological basis of schizophrenia and autism. The project will involve neurochemical and morphological analysis of brain tissue from genetically-manipulated mice which have mutations corresponding to those that lead to schizophrenia or autism in humans. Specifically, the post will involve RT-PCR, in situ hybridisation and western blotting procedures, along with generic tasks including contributing to the design of experiments, analysis of the results, assisting in supervision of junior lab members, and participating in the writing up of the results.
The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project, as opportunities allow.
Standard Terms & ConditionsSalary will be on the University’s Research and Teaching Grade, level 6/7, £28,098 - £31,604/£34,520 - £38,833 per annum.
This post has funding for 12 months in the first instance.
New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.
