Applications are invited for a senior Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow to work on the Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition (MOCVD) growth and characterisation of Gallium Nitride (GaN) device layers. The role is funded as part of an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Manufacturing Fellowship Award to Professor David Wallis and will be located at Cardiff University School of Engineering.

The successful candidate will carry out world leading research in the growth and characterisation of GaN based electronic device structures to develop a detailed understanding of issues such as doping mechanisms, defect generation and strain management in GaN layers. This understanding will then be used to improve the performance, reliability and manufacturability of a wide range of electronic and optoelectronic GaN devices. This activity is embedded within the Compound semiconductor cluster that is being developed in South Wales and will have access to state-of-the-art  growth and characterisation equipment and will involve working with collaborators  form other university groups and industry.

This is a full time (35 hours per week) fixed term role and is funded until 28/02/2021.

Salary: Research Associate £32548 - £38833 per annum (Grade 6) Research Fellow £41212 - £47722 per annum (Grade 7)
