The Department of Sport & Physical Activity, located in the Faculty of Management at Bournemouth University, is a new Department signaling investment and growth that builds upon Bournemouth’s existing excellence and global reputation for combining research, practice and teaching in sport and physical activity.

A Research Assistant in sport & physical activity is sought to work on the AHRC funded research project titled: Re-presenting para-sport bodies: Disability and the cultural legacy of the Paralympics (AH/P003842/1). You will be expected to assist the PI and project team with data management, impact and dissemination events and to lead on social media, run/maintain the dialogic project website as an essential platform for debate and (social media) updates from the entire project team so as to ensure maximal international exposure and debate. You will also play an essential liaison role between the project team. Research will be collaboratively carried out with multiple UK and overseas Higher Education partner institutions.

You will hold an undergraduate degree qualification and be committed to a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement. We encourage candidates to apply who have interest in qualitative research methods and analysis and/or who have experience of website development/maintenance. Good communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to work independently, are essential. A knowledge in the conceptual, theoretical and contextual understandings of para-sport bodies, media production and consumption, and/or critical social approaches to sport will be valuable, however not be necessary. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is looking to join an emergent and innovative research culture in which they can develop their skills working alongside a team of academics.
