Detail information about job Research Manager. Terms and conditions vacancy

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our Research and Access Team at our friendly London office. This new role is a fantastic opportunity to promote and support international collaborations that will contribute to greater scientific understanding and more treatments for people affected by MS.

About the MS International Federation and our movement

The MS International Federation is a unique global network of MS organisations, people affected by MS, volunteers and staff from around the world. We have 49 member organisations and we are in contact with more than 50 additional organisations worldwide. We are all working together, as the global MSIF movement, to improve the quality of life for everybody affected by MS and to end MS forever. Globally MSIF’s members fund around GBP 60 million annually on research into MS.

The MSIF secretariat in London has 13 staff and acts as a central point of communication for the whole movement, facilitating collaboration among members, convening members for learning and networking opportunities and providing capacity building support to new and emerging MS organisations.

This year marks the beginning of our five-year strategy: ‘Together we’re stronger than MS’. This strategy is for the whole MSIF movement, not for the secretariat alone. Throughout this strategy, member organisations will be central in designing, resourcing and implementing projects to tackle the big challenges for people affected by MS around the world.

Research Manager

The role will suit an internationally-minded person with a background in scientific research. It requires great relationship building and project management skills as well as a passion for international collaboration in research.

You will be bringing together high level research staff from our member organisations to facilitate their contributions to collaborative projects. You will facilitate, lead, coordinate and provide scientific input, as needed, into new and existing research initiatives.

You will manage and develop our international grants, fellowships and alumni programme. This programme encourage researchers, particularly from emerging countries, to enter or stay in, the field of MS and, on their return, these researchers often support the development of MS services and research in their home country.

Your work will also contribute to our aims to support confident and informed decision making, access to effective treatment and healthcare and positive changes in attitudes, policies and practices.
