You will assist the Café Bar Manager in the supervision and delivery of an efficient and high quality café bar service in a vibrant, family friendly entertainment arts venue. This will include the supervision of a busy bar and set up of Café Live performances.

You will undertake all aspects of stock and cash control, assisting in the service of food and drink and working closely with kitchen colleagues to deliver a first-class dining experience.

You will supervise junior and casual team members on a daily basis, so supervisory experience and team leadership skills are essential.

You will need to remain calm and efficient in a busy environment, providing excellent customer service at all times.

As Cafe Bar Supervisor you will:

  • Deliver the Gulbenkian customer values, “Welcoming & engaging everybody, behaving professionally & keeping informed, staying attentive and taking the initiative” to all of our visitors including University staff, students, Gulbenkian ticket holders, visiting artists and our expanding family audience.
  • Supervise and maintain high standards of service delivery, safety, hygiene, security, personal discipline and compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Be responsible for cash tills, cashless card transactions and reconciliation of monies, whilst supervising daily functions and events, providing an exceptional level of customer service at all times and supervising a casual team.

Gulbenkian is the University of Kent’s Arts Centre offering innovative, engaging and high quality arts activity for the public, staff and students. It provides a key role in delivering the University commitment to public engagement and has a particular focus on the creative empowerment of children and young people. The building contains a 340 seat theatre, 300 seat cinema and a café which incorporates an informal cabaret style space for live music, comedy and slam poetry. In 2014, 936 events including music, comedy, theatre, dance and film attracted 97,786 people to Gulbenkian. The arts centre attracts a range of conferences and events to Kent such as BBC Question Time.

From April 2015 Gulbenkian became a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England, this investment will support the development of a major new annual International Festival for families–bOing!
