Detail information about job Research Fellow in Virology. Terms and conditions vacancy

Fixed-term for 1 year due to funding. Due to funding restrictions, it is unlikely an appointment will be made above £32,548 per annum.

Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Virology? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK's leading research intensive Universities?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual to study the cell tropism and entry mechanisms of the emerging human pathogen BK virus. The project will be based in the small DNA tumour virus laboratory headed by Dr Andrew Macdonald, which is part of the highly successful virology research group at Leeds.

The post is funded by Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund and will focus on increasing our understanding of the cell tropism of BK virus, and in addition will define the host pathways and proteins necessary for successful infection, with the long term aim of identifying new targets for direct acting anti-viral therapeutics.

You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in Molecular Virology together with a strong cell biology background. You should have extensive experience with primary cell culture methodologies and a background in molecular virology, ideally with BK virus or related small DNA viruses.

The University of Leeds and the Faculty of Biological Sciences are committed to providing equal opportunities for all and offer a range of family friendly policies.
