Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.

The Kavli Institute for Cosmology, University of Cambridge (located at the West Cambridge site) is offering one senior Fellowship. The Kavli Institute Fellowship will be for five years starting in October 2018. Applicants must be experienced researchers and have a PhD in Astronomy or a related field and a proven track record of independent research in one, or more, of the research themes of the Kavli Institute. We welcome applications from observers and theorists with interests relevant to one or more of the scientific themes of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology (see http://www.kicc.cam.ac.uk), i.e. the Cosmic Microwave Background and the early Universe, the formation and evolution of galaxies and of supermassive black holes, the Epoch of Cosmic Reionization, the intergalactic medium, large scale structures and precision cosmology, and Gravitational Waves.

The fellowship is targeted at experienced researchers who have the potential to become leaders in their fields. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct a programme of independent scientific research, but also collaborate with researches in Cambridge, prepare proposals to secure research resources (for example, access to high performance computing and major observing facilities), write scientific articles for publication in peer reviewed journals and contribute to the supervision of graduate students and outreach as requested by the Director of the Kavli Institute. Applicants must have excellent communication and computing skills.

Salary will be on the same scale as University Lecturers, within the range £39,327 - £49,772 (p.a. depending on experience) plus superannuation benefit.
