Location: Pig Development Department, Animal and Grassland Research and Innovation Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co Cork.
Grade/Salary: Technician, with a starting salary of €28,220 per annum. The current salary scale is €28,220 to €38,373.
Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).
Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.
Post Type: Temporary Funded contract post, the indicative duration of which is 12 months, subject to contract.
A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
Basic Function: The primary duty of the successful candidate will be to support a field based applied research programme where the candidate will assist with the implementation, optimisation and validation of a computerised system for recording meat inspection findings at two pig slaughterhouses and the installation and optimisation of sensors to record coughing on 4-5 commercial pig farms.

Essential Qualifications
- Candidates must have a QQI Level 6 in Farm Administration and/or a Level 6 Advanced Cert in Agriculture or a related discipline.
- People and resource management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- A Level 7 qualification in Animal Science/Production would be a distinct advantage.
- IT skills.
