Applications are invited for a Research Assistant in High-Throughput Genomics to work at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics.
You will carry out service projects, primarily in next-generation sequencing, in accordance with standard operating procedures for sample handling and performing complex experimental procedures.
You will work to strict deadlines on a wide variety of genomics applications assigned by the Library Team manager. You will also work closely with senior scientists to ensure that projects progress smoothly through established pipelines, keeping accurate records with a variety of laboratory information management systems.
You will have a BSc in biological sciences with demonstrable knowledge in molecular biology. You will have experience of performing complex experimental procedures following SOPs, with demonstrable manual dexterity and respect for precision high-cost equipment. You will have the ability to organise and prioritise work efficiently, delivering results to a high standard and to an agreed schedule. You will be able to demonstrate a high level of communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
The position is funded by Genomic Services Income and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance.
