The Eastman Clinical Investigation Centre (ECIC) is a clinical research facility within the EDI Department of Clinical Research dedicated to the implementation of clinical trials in the field of Oral Health and Disease. Examples include clinical and translational studies on oral cancer and precancer, jaw osteonecrosis, periodontitis, dental disease, facial pain, and salivary gland disorders.
The Clinical Trial Practitioner (CTP) leads the ECIC research delivery team within the ECIC and is responsible for the efficient day-to-day clinical trial support and other research activities of the ECIC, including clinical governance as per local and national good research practice regulations, in collaboration with other research delivery staff of the centre including other CTPs, research nurses and research assistants.
The CTP, in collaboration with the above mentioned staff, will ensure monitoring of all study activities to ensure compliance with protocols and with all relevant local and national regulatory and institutional policies. The CTP will also ensure that adequate records of study activity are maintained,including case report forms, drug dispensation records, regulatory forms, list and CV of clinical investigators, as well as correspondence from patients, regulatory bodies such as HRA, MHRA, UCLHR&D, and NRES Ethical Committees. He/she will be expected to be familiar with Trust protocols and policies regarding clinical research and patient care, in line with current NHS standards and targets.
The CTP will also oversee and contribute to timely communication with sponsors and funding bodies, laboratories or investigators regarding laboratory findings. The CTP will also be responsible for theECIC Biobank and all relevant HTA protocols and regulatory requirement.
This post is funded until 31 March 2018.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing clinical trials, scientific research projects and producing professional reports. They will also have excellent oral and written communicationskills as well as good time management skills.
