Detail information about job Joint Programme Assessment and Record Officer. Terms and conditions vacancy

Queen Mary has provided a lead in Sino-British co-operation by successfully operating two degree programmes jointly with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. These two programmes (in Telecommunications Engineering with Management and e-Commerce Engineering with Law) have been running successfully since 2004 and were the first to be approved as part of the ‘key university’ quota by the Chinese Ministry of Education and are the first in China to be accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Both are taught in English and entirely in Beijing. There are currently over 2,000 students on the programmes.

This post is to manage the examinations process for the QM side of the partnership in close liaison with colleagues in BUPT; this includes interacting with staff on production of examination papers, coordinating exam paper productions with external examiners, processing examination marks, producing mark sheets and statistical analyses for examination boards and ensuring student records are consistent between QMUL and BUPT systems. Because of the interaction with the BUPT examinations system, the person appointed must be a fluent Chinese (Mandarin) speaker and be able to read Chinese.

Candidates must have experience of writing code in Excel VBA, data analytical skills and have previous experience of working in an assessment-related environment. They must also have experience of producing high-quality written work in English, and experience of both the UK and Chinese higher education systems.

The person appointed will be employed in the UK, but will have to travel to Beijing at least twice a year, spending around 2 weeks there each trip.

The post is full time and permanent, and is available immediately. Starting salary will be in the range £36,677 - £43,152 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance). Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefits pension scheme and an interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in China in accordance with Chinese Law.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Yue Chen at [email protected]. Details about the School can be found at www.eecs.qmul.ac.uk.
