Detail information about job Post-Doctoral Research Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy
The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £33,518 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance.
This post will be fixed term contract for 2 years.
This Research Associate position is located at Guy’s Hospital in the Department of Infectious Diseases (School of Immunology and Microbial Science).
The Odendall Laboratory studies both sides of host/pathogen interactions. In particular we investigate the mechanisms through which the innate immune system senses pathogens, the nature of the response activated and how this response affects pathogen growth and virulence. In addition, we are interested in identifying and characterising pathogen factors that block or manipulate these host processes, and how these actions contribute to pathogenesis.
This exciting project seeks to study the interaction between the host immune system and enteric bacterial pathogens (Salmonella, Shigella, Citrobacter) in mouse models of infection and intestinal inflammation. The successful applicant will hold a PhD, have excellent knowledge of immunology and be experienced in working with live mice (infection IP, IV and oral, dissection etc.). Experience working with Cat 2 pathogens is desirable, as well as proficiency in basic molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation, an assessment and a panel interview.
