Spine Points 60-69 (£54,372 - £70,893 pa)

St Catharine’s College was first founded as Katharine Hall in 1473, and is situated in the historic heart of Cambridge. As a constituent College of the University of Cambridge, St Catharine’s is a centre of academic excellence, and excels in sport, music, and the arts. The College is led by the Master, Professor Sir Mark Welland, and has some 60 Fellows, 430 undergraduate and 200 graduate students.

St Catharine’s College is seeking to appoint a Senior Tutor, in succession to Dr Paul Hartle. The post is to be filled with effect from 1 October 2018. Ideally, the successful candidate will join as Senior Tutor Designate from 1 September 2018 to allow a period of assimilation before the start of the academic year. If a part-time appointment is made the salary will be pro-rated. The stipend is pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

The Senior Tutor is a Fellow of the College, responsible to the Governing Body for providing leadership and administration of the College’s teaching and tutorial arrangements. Such areas of work include the development and implementation of College policy relating to undergraduate teaching and admissions, graduate admissions and welfare, as well as working with the other Tutors, especially the Admissions Tutors and Graduate Tutors, to promote student welfare and high academic standards.

Interviews for short-listed candidates are provisionally planned for early November. There will also be a prior opportunity to meet the College Officers and other Fellows, representatives of the JCR and MCR, and Academic Office staff, as well as to tour the College.
