We are seeking a Laboratory Manager, who will be responsible for the general management and operation of the Energy Storage Laboratory. You will provide a service to members of the research team, external partners and collaborators, supporting non-expert researchers using the analytical and battery fabrication tools. The post is fixed-term for up to 3 years.

You will ensure that equipment within the laboratory operates effectively and safely, and be responsible for booking and scheduling use of multi-operator equipment. You will provide training and supervision, instructing students, research staff and other technicians in the safe and efficient operation of equipment. You will also be involved in supporting ongoing energy storage research projects in collaboration with key research partners.

You will have a good first degree and a completed doctorate (or close to completion) in chemistry or a closely related subject, along with proven experience of ensuring the smooth operation of a university laboratory or similar research environment, including maintenance and repair of equipment. You will also have extensive experience in one or more of the following techniques: lab-scale Li-ion battery manufacturing; electrochemical characterisation; X-ray diffraction; thermogravimetric analysis; differential scanning calorimetry; Raman spectroscopy; electron microscopy techniques (SEM and TEM).
