We are seeking an exceptional candidate to enhance the excellence in teaching and research/scholarship in Architecture (contemporary technologies) within the School of Social Sciences. The successful candidate would be expected to take an active role in the teaching of our successful part 1 and 2 Architecture programmes and any new MSc programmes we will develop in the field. Candidates may be appointed to a ‘teaching and research’ role, or a ‘teaching and scholarship’ role, depending on their individual capabilities.

Essential:

- PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent professional qualification in Architecture

- Clear evidence of excellence in University learning and teaching

- Demonstrated experience of excellent University teaching, module design and leadership

- Experience of setting, marking, assessing work and examinations and providing feedback to students

- Experience of conceiving and delivering high quality design-led pedagogy in Architecture including supervision of undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate student projects

- Develop research/scholarship objectives, project and proposals

- Conduct individual or collaborative research/scholarship projects

- Ability to identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds

- Mentor colleagues and advise on personal development

- Develop ideas for generating income and promoting the subject

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others

- Evidence of effective team membership

- Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands

- Ability to engage and travel in occasional overseas recruitment activities

Desirable:

- Experience of curriculum development and review

- Experience of successful supervision of PhD research students

- Experience of successful international recruitment

- Experience of Public Engagement
