The Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU) is a rapidly expanding research facility conducting clinical trials and scientific research into asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). There are very close links with the Airway Pharmacology Group in the University of Manchester, led by Professor Dave Singh.
We are looking for a Laboratory Scientist who has extensive experience in flow cytometry. The post holder will be responsible for setting up and overseeing flow cytometry assays used in clinical trials, as well as being involved in Professor Singh’s scientific research investigating the cellular mechanisms of asthma and COPD. Experience in other analytical platforms such as ELISA and Luminex would be advantageous.
The post-holder must have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work to tight deadlines and be a strong team player. Applicants should have a good Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a life science or related discipline. A post-graduate degree (masters or PhD) would be an advantage.
In addition to practical work, the post-holder will be responsible for generating SOPs, writing analytical plans and reports and ensuring that junior staff in the laboratory operate to a high standard.
