You will work on a project which aims to develop non-invasive electrical stimulation of the cervical spinal cord to facilitate arm and hand rehabilitation after incomplete spinal cord injury. The project is in collaboration with scientists and clinicians at the Guttmann Institute (Barcelona), the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Oslo. The Newcastle component will examine mechanisms and applications of non-invasive spinal cord stimulation in animal models. The project will require working within an interdisciplinary, international team, collecting and analysing data, communicating research internally and at conferences, and preparing papers for peer-reviewed journals.

You will have a PhD in neuroscience, neurotechnology or a related subject, and a strong track record in neuroscience or neurotechnology. Experience of spinal cord physiology, in vivo electrophysiology and/or motor systems neuroscience is advantageous.

Good communication skills are essential for this role, as is the ability to meet deadlines.
