This reputable Government Ministry plays an important part in helping the everyday lives of individuals and communities across New Zealand.
In your role as the Financial Accountant you will be responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting services.
Your role sits in the Finance unit, which is responsible for the organisation's financial management, financial strategy and planning, finance and people-related information and payroll services, and financial policy and procedure development and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the integrity of financial information contained within the general ledger, working closely with the Finance Managers and teams to monitor financial results against expectations.
- Ensure the provision of financial reporting and budgeting processes meet the needs of stakeholders.
- Work closely with Strategic Finance Team, Finance Managers and teams on issues surrounding financial information on actuals, budgets and baseline update processes.
- Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure integrity of all relevant data.
- Assist in the development and implementation of relevant financial policies and procedures.
- Effective cash flow management and contribution to the annual report and audit process.
Key Requirements
- Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- A qualified accountant or equivalent.
- Experience and or understanding of the machinery of Government
