About the role
Our dedicated team are looking for a Gardener/Groundsperson to join us in creating and maintaining an attractive community environment for our residents.
This role requires a motivated and reliable person with a 'can-do, will-do' attitude, who has the ability to work well in a team as well as with minimal supervision. This role will be focused more towards grounds than gardens, as well as supporting the maintenance team.
On offer is a full time opportunity, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some weekends as required.
Skills and experience required
Previous experience with grounds keeping and a clean drivers licence are essential. A formal qualification or proof of relevant training, particularly First Aid and Grow Safe, will be advantageous. The ideal candidate will possess a good knowledge of general gardening, general grounds keeping to ensure the village is kept tidy, operating garden machinery, including using a lawn mower. General labour work will involve heavy lifting, so physical fitness is important.
Key responsibilities include:
- Village waste management (rubbish, recycling that can involve heavy lifting)
- Cleaning of bins
- Water blasting
- Cleaning of and oversight of non-garden areas (paths and buildings)
You will appreciate how important this position is in delivering an outstanding service to our residents, so you will have empathy for the older person; excellent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate in a clear, considerate fashion; and an industrious, diligent approach to ensuring that the job is done to the highest standards.
