About the role

An excellent career opportunity exists for a Foreman - On Highway to lead our team on the floor in our Tauranga branch. The role will report directly to our Service Manager.

Key duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Control and direct the On Highway workshop team to ensure that efficiencies in operation are achieved and monitored; quality work is produced and customer needs are satisfied in line with branch KPI's;
  • Co-ordinate your team's workloads and ensure that customer requests are met in an efficient and accurate manner;
  • Ensure parts supply to the workshop via planning with the Parts Department;
  • Develop the On Highway Service Team in order to enhance the personal development of employees;
  • Ensure accurate reporting and forecasting on a regular basis through daily workshop meetings and updates.
  • Monitor repair times to ensure branch productivity and efficiency targets are met and that staff are encouraged to meet branch KPI's.
  • Be able to work standard hours, overtime and rostered Saturday to accommodate customers.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Appropriate Trade, technical or business qualifications.
  • At least 5 years' experience in the Heavy Vehicle or Engine business.
  • Sound technical knowledge and experience in Western Star, MAN, Dennis Eagle, Detroit Diesel products or similar.
  • The ability to lead a team of highly skilled technicians.
  • The ability to analyse situations and communicate effectively with staff concerned.
  • The ability to motivate the On Highway Service team.
  • Excellent customer service and is aware of the needs of Internal and External Customers.
  • A high level of understanding of workshop coordination, labour sales, labour costs, expenses and margins.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • The ability to work with computer systems.
