The Research Office focuses on supporting AgResearch in contestable investment processes such as the MBIE Endeavour Fund as well as managing internal investment processes. The Business Analyst based in Lincoln will work closely with the Assistant Research Director and the Research Office team.

We are looking for someone with hands on business experience and strong commercial acumen. This role requires the ability to identify unique opportunities that have a positive impact on AgResearch.

The ideal candidate will thrive on collaborating with leaders across the organisation and interpreting complex and detailed information. They will also be a strong project manager who uses sound methodology to meet tight deadlines allowing them to influence key decision makers to help us shape the future for the better.

What you will be doing

• Providing business analysis and / or commercial insights, on research opportunities for AgResearch staff
• Working closely with Science Leaders to form business cases including economic, environmental, social and cultural aspects
• Defining and using quantitative and qualitative measures and methodology for monitoring and reporting on research projects and their impacts
• Advising on risks and issues, options, solutions, and future impacts of research outputs and outcomes
• Analysing and reporting on key performance metrics required by the Research Office to report to the AgResearch Leadership Team, Executive Team and Board throughout the year.
• Working with the Contestable Funding Manager and Project Specialist for Internal Investments

Your ideal background

We are looking for an analyst with proven commercial or business management experience to join our team with the following experience and skills:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in a business/science discipline
• 5-10 years relevant business experience with strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Experience in the preparation of business cases and impact assessments
• Experience working in a science organisation would be an advantage
• Sound understanding in the areas of data and process analysis as well as business reporting, design and implementation
• Demonstrated understanding of good project management practices
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead and manage complex pieces of work
