Laboratory Technician (1x full-time and 1x part-time role)

As a result of the growth that our region is experiencing we are recruiting for two Laboratory Technician roles (1x Full-time role and 1x 0.5 role) to be based at our Chapel Street Lab.

These roles have a primary responsibility for the provision, and maintenance of, an effective laboratory service. Ideally the person in these positions will be, or become, a KTP for all tests that the laboratory holds accreditation for. This means that the role holders will have a thorough understanding of International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) accreditation requirements and be responsible for assisting in ensuring that IANZ accreditation requirements are consistently met.

These roles are responsible for much of the daily sample analysis and reporting of results in accordance with the requirements of NZS/ISO/IEC 17025.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Equipment calibration
  • Quality control
  • Housekeeping
  • Auditing
  • Sample analysis and data management
  • Client Liaison

These positions will communicate results to the laboratory's clients ensuring the provision of accurate and reliable test data, to enable process control of the wastewater treatment plants and water treatment plants, and appropriate decision making by external customers.

To be considered for the role, you will be / have:

  • Computer literate with an understanding of database management
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Understanding IANZ accreditation and associated auditing, quality and calibration requirements
  • IANZ accredited internal auditor
  • Understanding of wastewater and water treatment processes is desirable
  • NZCS minimum
  • Must be, or able to become and maintain KTP status for the tests that the laboratory holds IANZ accreditation for.
  • Must be, or be able to become, an Approved Chemical Handler for the chemicals the laboratory holds.

These positions require good time management and the ability to multitask. To be successful in this role you will be expected to have good computer skills and the ability to work independently to achieve agreed outcomes.
