Skyline Aviation and NZ Air Ambulance Service are privately owned family businesses who are experts in the aeromedical field providing air ambulance services across New Zealand, into the Pacific, and further afield. We also provide private charter and air services to a range of corporate and recreational clients.

We have been experiencing strong growth in recent years, and have several new projects on the go at present. We operate a mix of jet and turboprop fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, including the national Starship Air Ambulance service. The role of Finance Manager & Accountant is absolutely pivotal to ensure we are accurately recording and reporting on current work but also poised, not only to take advantage of all the opportunities coming our way, but also to enhance our current processes and service levels. We will not compromise on quality, so we need someone who has a passion for detail and is a stickler for ensuring all operations and systems run smoothly and flawlessly. Although our mission is worthy, we also need to be profitable, so a focus on driving efficiencies and an understanding of commercial imperatives is critical.

Based in our superb purpose built facility at Napier airport, you will be at the heart of the action. Alongside all the typical boring things that accountants need to do (and which we do actually highly value!) you will provide a key leadership role, and take responsibility for many of the logistical challenges of managing such a complex business. You need to be able to think strategically while still delivering operationally. Working hand-in-glove with an energetic, innovative and highly experienced MD, and reporting to a passionate Board of Directors, you will be expected to provide rock solid financial information and analysis and demonstrate a continuous improvement mind-set. Other key requirements include:

• Sound academic qualifications & experience, including an accounting degree, and CA certification
• Excellent technology and systems knowledge, with high level Xero capability
• Ability to manage the challenges of guiding a business through significant ongoing growth, including distilling relevant financial information to inform decision-making.
• A confident communicator, able to build rapport with a wide range of people, and nurture both internal and external relationships
• Highly organised, analytical, and detail focused, while still demonstrating the ability to think creatively and problem solve effectively

This role is hugely diverse and stimulating, but also very 'hands on'. You will have a small team reporting to you, but we need someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.

We want someone who will fall in love with our business and is prepared to stretch themselves both personally and professionally. Ours is a 24/7 operation, and although you will generally work normal business hours, we need you to be available when critical situations arise (as they sometimes do given the nature of our business). For the right person this role could develop much further inside our senior leadership team.
