This is a stunning opportunity for a talented junior to mid-level Lawyer to join this dynamic, high profile, international corporate.
In this newly created role you will be an integral part of the NZ legal team and also work closely with other members of the wider Group legal team based in various international jurisdictions. Uniquely, this new role will have a dual function and be evenly split between working on M&A matters and providing day to day legal advice to certain operating businesses in New Zealand.
In terms of the M&A work, you will assist on a range of domestic and international transactions and work closely with the deal team and external advisors in various jurisdictions. Responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating transaction documents, reviewing due diligence materials, coordinating regulatory filings and working on international corporate restructurings.
In addition to the transactional work (and with support from the senior lawyer in NZ), you will provide 'hands on' legal advice to several businesses within the Auckland region and gain experience in broader areas of commercial law. You will spend some of your time at the operating businesses and gain valuable experience as an internal legal advisor on business law issues. The nature of the legal work is broad and diverse with a focus on contractual law matters.
The ideal candidate we seek will have:
- a tertiary qualification in law and current NZ practising certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
- three to five years' PQE as a corporate/commercial lawyer, ideally with M&A experience
- a genuine desire to establish his or her career on the in-house track
- the ability to bring a commercial and flexible approach to legal issues
- good project management skills and attention to detail
- a personable, proactive and enthusiastic working style.
