The Treasury is the government's lead economic and financial advisor. Our vision is to be a world-leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders. As one of the government's three central agencies (which also includes SSC and DPMC), the Treasury provides leadership, context and direction to public sector agencies.
Our Legal team contributes to the Treasury's vision by providing legal advice to effectively manage legal risk and implement projects. The nature of the Treasury's role means that you will be involved in a wide range of issues across all sectors and a range of government priorities.
As a Solicitor you will:
- Provide advice on a wide range of legal issues relating to the activities and functions of the Minister of Finance, the Minister for State Owned Enterprises, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the Minister Responsible for the Earthquake Commission and the Treasury
- Advise on a wide range of policy and commercial issues
- Advise on general contracting and procurement issues
- Assist with the passage of new legislation through Parliament
About You
- A strong focus on client service and solutions
- Effective communication skills and the ability to develop excellent working relationships
- The capacity to offer timely, practical and quality legal advice
- A desire to learn and contribute across the team
- From two to five years' experience as a practising Solicitor
