About MSD Legal Services
Legal Services provides professional legal advice and advocacy services to all areas of the Ministry. We advise frontline and National Office staff on a diverse range of matters including legislative and policy development, welfare, human rights, privacy, media, contracts, and employment law. We conduct proceedings in the District and Employment Courts and represent the Ministry before the Social Security Appeal Authority and other Tribunals. We advise on claim resolution for historic abuse claims and work with Crown Law to manage higher court litigation.
About the Role
Reporting to Team Manager, Litigation the successful applicant will have a genuine desire to work in the public service with energy, drive and passion to develop and maintain successful relationships across the team, with clients, and external stakeholders.
The Litigation team within MSD Legal Services advises on claims resolution for historic abuse claims, human rights complaints and works with Crown Law to manage higher court litigation including social security matters.
This role requires working alongside National Office clients to manage litigation and advise on complaints and claims resolution. Some experience advising on historic abuse claims, privacy and OIA matters, human rights complaints or social security law is desirable.
