At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), we underpin New Zealand's success with information about ‘where' - ensuring New Zealand has accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights, now and for future generations.

The Overseas Investment Office (OIO) is an integral part of Land Information New Zealand, and has responsibility for implementing new legislation aimed at benefitting New Zealanders. Recently the Government announced its intention to restrict some overseas people from buying residential property in New Zealand. However those who bring particular benefits to New Zealand will be able to apply to the OIO for consent to purchase sensitive assets, and we are growing our capacity to respond to these applications.

This is a great opportunity to join the newly formed Monitoring and Intelligence team within the OIO and be the first specialist point of contact for all general enquires from members of the public, solicitors and businesses who may need to apply for consent.  Enquiries will range from the straight forward through to the complex, where you will be required to research and develop written responses to external parties.  You will also be required to assist in the preparation of briefings and official information action queries for the OIO.

Good judgment, professionalism and an ability to build rapport with stakeholders internally and externally will be critical to the role. Ideally you will have a law degree and have excellent written communication skills - able to tailor your style and language to your audience.  You'll need to be highly organised to ensure that enquiries are prioritised appropriately and that responses are issued within agreed timeframes.

One of the best parts of the role is working alongside other talented people in the OIO.   We'll reward you further with a competitive salary, a supportive team environment and the chance to develop your career in a regulatory environment.

You may view the position description at this site, as well as complete the on-line application, and upload a CV and cover letter. We are looking for evidence of how you meet each of the key selection criteria.

If you have any questions about the role, please contact Leanne at [email protected]

Applications close at 5.00pm on Wednesday 1 August 2018.
