Community Law Waikato is looking for an Advocate to assist clients in the areas of Welfare (Work & Income), Housing, and Immigration.
You will either need relevant experience (eg. advocacy, welfare, housing, immigration) or a relevant qualification (eg. legal, social work).
You will be working with clients from a range of backgrounds assisting to negotiate with various agencies and advocating for the client.
Specifically, welfare work will involve assisting clients to navigate services, identify their entitlements and support them at appointments. It may include representation at benefit review hearings. The housing work includes negotiation with various agencies and working through clients entitlements. The Immigration work is primarily focused on Refugee Reunification applications involving sponsorship of refugees into New Zealand. It also involves document gathering and completion.
The successful applicant will receive training and support from a team of Lawyers so knowledge in all the different areas is not required.
