The position

 

We are currently looking to recruit a project manager to join us full-time for a contracted period of six months, in our Christchurch office.  The primary focus will be to assist with work on the completion of the Christchurch earthquake recovery project.  The work will involve preparation of costings for cash settlement by the client and also reinstatement of some properties.  There is potential for this assignment to be extended dependant on our Clients need. 

 

This hands-on role requires someone who enjoys working in a varied and pressurised environment.  Working closely with our client, suppliers and customers this position requires someone who has the ability to handle robust client and customer demands and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  

 

We are looking for someone who loves to work as part of a team, is reliable, punctual and has a friendly and engaging personal style. To be successful in this role you will need a strong focus on attention to detail and delivery of agreed tasks, as well as being customer focussed. 

 

You will make an impact by managing a portfolio of repair/rebuild projects to completion; providing advice, recommendations and building solutions to relevant stakeholders; working with builders and other key stakeholders to develop and manage works programs; preparing Scope of Works, validating estimates and conducting tenders; following up on project progress, as well as, preparing progress and other reporting; work on consent and compliance matters; close liaison and delivery of client requirements within set timeframes.

 

This is a great opportunity for an experienced project manager or for someone with good construction background wishing to expand their skills and develop their skills into project management of insurance claims under our highly experienced team. 

What we are looking for: 

  • A background and/or qualification in construction with a proven understanding of building methods and materials

  • Previous experience as a Project Manager, Assessor or Loss Adjuster is desirable

  • Proven ability to interpret building plans and estimate costs

  • Knowledge of insurance operational processes, practices and risk management

  • Understanding and applying the Building Act, the Building Code, Department of Building and Housing Guidelines and any territorial authority requirements

  • Exceptional organisational skills

  • The ability to multi-task and problem solve with an eye for detail

  • Self-disciplined, self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Demonstrated computer literacy i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn new systems

  • Excellent communication skills for face-to-face, telephone and written communication

  • Enthusiasm and initiative, with the willingness to contribute to a dynamic, professional and positive team environment

  • This role requires a valid driver’s licence.
