About the business
Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki was established in 1989 and is now recognised as the West Coast's premier Nature Lodge. We offer an international clientele stylish comfort, great food and wine and guided nature and wilderness discovery.
Set among ancient rainforest on the shores of a lovely lake and close to the seacoast, there are kayaks and a walking track network on the Lodge's doorstep. It is remote and work here best suits a couple without dependents who love wild nature, work well together and enjoy a challenge. Here you can work together as a couple to help care for our visitors, our staff and this special place.
About the role
The Managing Couple will oversee most aspects of the Lodge including staff and daily operations guided by the Lodge Managing Directors.
You will oversee and participate in all aspects of the Lodge from reservations/reception/food/beverage/accommodation to outdoor activities on our nature walk network and guided nature trips to the conservation lands that surround our property. Your challenge will be to ensure that all areas are operating smoothly, efficiently and profitably and that the standard and quality of service is high from you and our team of tourism professionals.
The Lodge managing couple will complement and support each other and inspire our staff team.
Working with Lodge owners/managing directors Anne Saunders and Dr Gerry McSweeney you will be the face of the Lodge, liaising closely with guests and helping maintain our unique nature lodge experience. Strong tourism, food, staff management experience is important as is the ability to be resourceful and live amongst and maintain and enjoy a remote and beautiful location.

Skills and experience
Extensive experience in the tourism industry and business is vital for this job as is a love of the outdoors and of nature.
A high level of customer service and staff management experience, enthusiastic approach and a resourceful nature will also be very important for this work.
