About Sounds Air

Sounds Air is a locally owned and operated airline based in the heart of Marlborough. We are a growing company, with a fleet of five twelve-seat Cessna 208 Caravans and five nine-seat Pilatus PC-12 aircraft.  Sounds Air links the North and South Islands between Wellington, Picton, Blenheim, Nelson, Paraparaumu, Westport, Taupo, Christchurch and Napier.

The Customer Service and Check-in role is based at Picton Airport and at our Picton Central Reservations Office with an immediate start preferred. We require a part-time staff member for a minimum of 25 hours per week.

This position has the potential to pick up shifts as desired and available. Shifts cover 7 days a week and can start from 7am and finish as late as 8pm.

Role responsibilities include:

This role is made up of two parts, both Ground Crew member at Picton Airport and Customer Service Agent in our reservations office providing exceptional customer service to all our passengers.

CALL CENTRE: Customer Service Agent  

  • Develop effective relationships, both internally and externally
  • Have an excellent understanding of Sounds Air products and Services and promote to customers
  • Provide excellent sales services to customers with regards to Ticketing by phone and email
  • Assist customers with resolving travel problems
  • Assist with re-accommodation of passengers in disruptions situations
  • Various administrative tasks to be completed daily

AIRPORT: Ground Crew member

  • Check-in of passengers and baggage in a confident and friendly manner
  • Loading and unloading baggage into aircraft
  • Supervising and assisting passengers to and from the aircraft
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and general tidiness of aircraft and terminal
  • Assisting Pilots and other Ground Crew members in getting the planes away safely and on-time, especially in adverse weather conditions
  • Maintaining excellent company safety and security procedures

What we are looking for:

This front line role can get very busy and requires people who can think on their feet, make decisions, take initiative and communicate well. You may be working alone, we need someone that has high standards of their own work and can assist customers in a positive and friendly manner. We want someone who is savvy with technology and is keen to learn and be a part of a great team.

The position is shift work, on a roster. You will need to be available for work on weekdays, weekends, public holidays and have a high degree of flexibility. You must be available to be flexible regarding shift work.

Preferred experience

  • A minimum of 12 months customer service experience – travel and tourism related is a great bonus
  • Previous sales and administration experience is also preferred
