About the branch:

The Enterprise branch was established in June and sits within the Finance and Performance Group (F+P). The Enterprise branch is responsible for planning and monitoring the financial and non-financial performance of MBIE, the coordination and reporting of MBIE's performance to key external stakeholders, and for the governance and management of MBIE's assets.

 

About the role:

The Principal Advisor to the GM Enterprise Performance and Reporting is a role that reports to the General Manager Enterprise Performance and Reporting within the Enterprise branch.

The Principal Advisor is responsible for leading the Enterprise Performance and Reporting branch on cross MBIE projects and championing the Finance and Performance input the organisational strategy of MBIE. The Principal Advisor is responsible for the management of key governance groups (including the Finance subcommittee) and the enterprise planning and reporting timetable for MBIE.

The Principal Advisor also provides leadership and coaching to the Enterprise Performance and Reporting branch, ensuring quality and consistency of advice and practices and to lift performance and drive new and innovative ways of thinking in relation to the External Reporting and Planning and Performance teams, the Finance and Performance group's work and wider MBIE.

Skills and Experience:

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Significant experience in planning and performance reporting in a public sector organisation
  • Highly developed conceptual and analytical ability, with the ability to deal with complex and emerging issues that contain a high level of ambiguity.
  • An ability to convey content in a jargon free way that engages and meets the needs of the audience
  • The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior managers, staff and key internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
  • Highly developed communication and writing skills 
  • A strong customer focus.
