About the business and the role
Masonic Court is a not-for-profit independent rest home in Whanganui. We're looking for a dynamic, experienced registered nurse who is ready to step up and lead our clinical care. The successful applicant will have an interest and strong empathy in caring for the older person.
Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, the Clinical Nurse Leader is responsible for managing the team of part time and casual registered nurses, and care assistants. The CNL has strong relationships with residents, their families, GPs, pharmacists, social workers, referring agencies and rest home staff.
This is a clinical management position so applicants must be a Registered Nurse with a current practicing certificate issued by the NZ Nursing Council.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Key Performance Areas are:
- Direct, organise and supervise registered nursing staff.
- Lead and direct care assistant staff as required.
- Represent clinical care to referring agencies and supporting medical entities.
- Management of the Clinical Roster.
- Management of the Clinical staff performance requirements such as annual competencies and performance appraisals.
- Development and maintenance oversight of care plans for all residents
- Ensure delivery of care is appropriate and timely.
- Develop and deliver staff training sessions on topics with clinical focus.
- Analyse internal clinical audits and quality improvement data.
- Develop an excellent rapport with residents and their families.
- Lead the infection control programme.
- Actively participate in Health & Safety.
Skills and experience
The successful applicant should have effective communication and problem solving skills. Teaching and management skills are also desirable, as is a commitment to quality improvement.
