About the business and the role
Counselling Services Centre (CSC) is a not for profit agency located in Papatoetoe, South Auckland. We have been providing counselling and practical support to the Counties Manukau community since 1986.
Our Services include:
Crisis Response Team
24/7 free and confidential crisis response service for anyone affected by sexual harm which
includes assault or abuse.
Court Support
Free and confidential support for people who go through the justice process, during and after trial.
Counselling Team
Our counselling team accept self-referrals and referrals from other agencies and services. Our counsellors are registered with a professional body such as NZAC and NZCCA, and most are ACC registered.
Social Work
Our social work team provide advocacy, support services and resources. Our social workers are registered with SWRB and ANZASW

Job tasks and responsibilities
This role is working with people who have experienced trauma, with a specific focus on clients affected by sexual harm and/or family harm. You may also see clients under other contracts and private clients who are funding their own counselling. You will need to already be registered with ACC to do ACC Sensitive Claims counselling. Hours of work could be from 2 days initially to 4 days per week based at our Agency premises in Papatoetoe.
Skills and experience
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Full membership of a governing body i.e. NZCCA, NZAC
- Minimum of 2-5 years' experience as a Counsellor
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A demonstrated understanding of the dynamics impacting on people affected by sexual violence and other trauma
- Counselling experience supporting clients who have experienced sexual assault/abuse
- Professional boundaries and best practice are expected
- A demonstrated understanding of client databases i.e. Exess, and appointment management skills
