Skills/Experience needed;
- At least 12-months NZ Nursing Experience (or comparative Healthcare Systems) or 6-months NZ experience post CAP course completion
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
- Current CPR, Basic Life Support or First Aid Certification
- Ability to obtain verbal references from two senior referees whom you have worked with in the last 2 years
- Must be eligible to work in NZ with appropriate immigration visa
The Role;
As a Medacs Agency Staff member you will accept agency shifts or ‘line of work’ on Cardiology Wards at a variety of clients to cover gaps in the roster, sick leave, annual leave or maternity leave. You will be orientated to the ward/ unit and be an integral team member whilst you are there. You will take your own pre or post-op surgical patient load and deliver the appropriate nursing care to your assigned patients. As part of the team you will also assist your team members to ensure the ward/ unit functions smoothly, by going above and beyond to support where possible.
Duties may also include:
- Providing wound assessment
- Completing Patient Observations
- Liaising with Surgeons and MDT
- Administering Medications - Oral, IV, sub-cut, IM
- Supervising support staff
- Following up blood results
- Assisting with procedures
- Keeping patient and family informed of any developments in care
- Arranging admissions and discharges
- Advocating for patients
- Ensuring care and treatments are documented
