The Mana Kidz goal is to improve the health of our children and reduce ethnic inequalities in health outcomes for certain targeted preventable conditions and reduce the rates of hospitalisation in primary school aged children for these health conditions (rheumatic fever and skin infections).
Mana Kidz is a Registered Nurse (RN) led, primary school-based health service that enables RNs to address a number of important health issues. The RNs work alongside Whānau Support Workers (WSW) and closely with the school communities to maximise the opportunity for assessment and treatment, and to deliver broad health promotion/education messages. A whānau centric approach is embedded in this programme in order to improve the general health and wellbeing of both children and their whānau.
This role involves a comprehensive Mana Kidz orientation programme, South Sea's training commencing week of start of employment
Requirements for applicants:
- A registered nurse with experience in Child health and current knowledge of primary healthcare setting, population health and whanau ora experience.
- A registered nurse working towards a post graduate study in Child health / Youth health.
- New graduates will be considered.
- Be legally eligible to work in New Zealand.
- A current New Zealand practicing certificate.
- Be committed to working as part of a health team of registered nurses, whanau support workers, and management.
- A full current, clean NZ Drivers licence.
- Proficient with Medtech 32 and Microsoft office packages.
- Positive attitude and excellent communication and personal skills.
