ABOUT THE ROLE

Health Care Assistant, The Bureau - Wellington or Kenepuru Hospitals

• Casual "on-call" roles (there is no guarantee that you will work set days)

As a Healthcare Assistant  in our busy hospital, you will be redeployed to various areas in either Wellington or Kenepuru hospitals on a "as required basis" where you will be a general support for our nursing and medical teams. While assigned to an area you may be responsible for assisting with patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse assisting in Health Care assisted roles or undertaking observation and Engagement duties.

The type of applicants that will be considered will be those that are prepared to do rostered and rotating shifts on a casual basis.

You will be relied upon by the team as someone who takes the initiative on issues within your area of responsibility and scope of practice.

We are looking for switched on candidates with:

• Level 3 NZQA certification in Community Support Service (or its equivalent)
• Excellent organisational skills
• Great relationship building skills
• Energy to cope with a fast paced work environment
• Your own transport

You will sometimes be working in a stressful environment, so you will need to be able to respond appropriately and have a pleasant, flexible and sensitive approach to the different cultural needs of people.

Ideally you are computer savvy, have a willingness to learn and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.  Any previous experience or education in a health environment would be an advantage.
