ABOUT THE COMPANY 

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. We are also the leading provider of a number of specialist services, including neurosurgery, oncology, neonatal intensive care, and specialised mental health services, for the upper South and lower North Islands, a population of about 900,000 people. Our DHB has an annual budget of more than $1 billion, which we use to deliver health services directly and contract external providers to provide care, such as general practices, rest homes and pharmacists. 

CCDHB operates two hospitals – Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua – as well as the Kapiti Health Centre in Paraparaumu.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The MAPU team works to improve the quality of care for patients by streamlining the admission process, facilitating early consultant review, expediting rapid and comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and treatment by planning and improving access to investigative services such as radiology and laboratory testing. 

The MAPU is led and managed by medical services and is the acute admission point for most internal medicine patients within the CCDHB region.

Our MAPU provides a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week service and our staff function on rostered and rotating shifts. 

This is an opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses to join our team, we are hiring for 2x part-time permanent positions with the opportunity to pick-up extra shifts when needed.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for Registered Nurses with:

• Current Nursing Council of New Zealand Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
• 2 or more years acute care experience with proven skills in acute assessment.  
• Competence in cannulation and phlebotomy is also desirable.
• The ability to work in a fast paced environment that values teamwork and dynamism.
