ABOUT THE COMPANY 

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) Flight will provide day to day clinical and operational co-ordination for the Flight Service.  

The role is broad and includes the co-ordination, triage and tasking of all adult and paediatric transfers and optimising patient flow through prompt and efficient resource utilisation. The role is crucial in the national scheme of aeromedical services and requires excellent communication and coordination with other regional and national services.

DUTIES

  • Coordination of acute air and road retrievals and elective inter hospital transfers (IHT)
  • Facilitating appropriate transport modality and clinical team
  • Application of critical care and aeromedical clinical expertise to ensure appropriate tasking and triage within the clinical governance structure of the Intensive Care Service
  • Efficient communication within and outside of the DHB to facilitate safe and timely transfer of patients
  • Working collaboratively alongside the IOC team to ensure efficient, patient flow and effective transfer of patients 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must have critical nursing experience
  • Must hold or be working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification in critical care and/or aeromedical retrieval 
  • 5 years acute care nursing experience
  • Interest in leadership and coordination
  • Significant progress on the PDRP
