ABOUT THE COMPANY
Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. ABOUT THE ROLE
Community Health Services (CHS) provides assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and support services to individuals and families in their homes. We offer an orientation programme and on-going education to HCA’s.
The Home Help Service assists people living on their own with personal care and household management tasks. The service aims to assist the early discharge of clients from hospital and to help clients to remain in their own home. The service provides short-term assistance with household management for clients who are recuperating from surgery or an acute illness.
Community Health Service Wellington has a casual Health Care Assistant (HCA) position available. The casual shifts are mainly morning shifts from 8.00am to 2.00pm, Monday to Sunday. There are also afternoon shifts available, from 6.00pm – 10.00pm.
DUTIES
The Health Care Assistant’s provide assistance with activities of daily living such as personal care and household tasks for clients who are temporarily incapacitated through illness or surgery.
A close relationship is maintained with the professional nursing staff (District Nurses) working in the area for on-going assessment and advice in delivery of personal care.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate is required to have:
- Completed level 3 NZQA qualifications in Community Support Services (or its equivalent)
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Basic keyboard skills
- Good communication skills
